example of why a paint cleaner is important
i cant post pics of the the car but ,the car did was washed ,clayed and polished with menzerna 106 orange pad. Then i used white pad with KLASSE AIO and this was the result,it goes to show you how important a paint cleaner is in a good detail.

I do not understand. What should I be noticing? I guess it is something on the pad. Sorry for being dumb.

I think a paint cleanser in replacement of a polish on a well taken care of finish still helps to remove minor environmental issues. Some we may see, others we cannot. I use Pinnacle or P21S when needed as easily to use and great results.

I'm guessing that used to be a white pad? I honestly wounldn't have expected those results after polishing, quite surprising. Last week I detailed a Trailblazer, did ONR, clay, and FK425 and PwS, UDM and here is the pad after:
That is without polishing beforehand, I would have assumed that the polish would also clean the paint ... guess not . Thanks!

What kind of car was it what color? Did you do an ISO wipe down after polish?

No way I would have guessed that either. Things always look perfect after a polish. Thanks for showing us that.

OK. so if he was using a white pad, it should have been just filled with dried AOI and the dark is the dirt/oxidation that was not removed from the surface?

I just do not understand how an aggressive polish that removes some very small amount of top coat in order to achieve the polishing results can have dirt remaining if it is attached the surface removed. Is it disturbed (must be if above is true) and spread by the polishing action but essentially redistributed on the surface?
