Meguiars D101 APC vs D114 Waterless vs Mckee N-914 Waterless
Hi all,
So I've been looking for an "all in one" product to use on my car.
This is what I need it to do:
1) Waterless Wash
2) Leaves behind no residue behind to allow for immediate paint correction
3) Can be diluted enough to be safe and not remote wax/clear coat
4) Safe to be used as Clay Lube
5) Safe to be used as Interior cleaning (both Leather & Carpet)
Okay,
So I know Meguiars D114 got discontinued, and heard McKee N-914 is basically the replacement for it.
However... I'm also running into cases where the interior is very dirty and needs a stronger cleaner (prefer foaming action)
This brings up the question of D101 vs N-914 for INTERIOR?
I wasn't sure if anyone tried or knows how safe N914 is on interior leather and carpet?
I plan on keeping a 1:128 and 1:8 ratio spray bottles if getting N914.
I already bought D101... which now I'm wondering might have been a waste depending on how everyone rates N914.
Wanted to see what everyone's opinions were on all 3 products... but more specifically D101 vs N914 on interior cleaning.

I've not used N914 yet, but it has been very well received from many long time users of D114. I wouldn't be surprised if it's very capable at cleaning interiors, but even so, purchasing D101 can't be a waste, the product is so versatile and has great cleaning power that I'm sure you'll find many uses for it.

This is my opinion based solely off my experience and expectations of N-914 and D114. I have 5 gallons of D114 left and use it for the following applications.
-Rinseless wash-1:256
-Waterless/quick detailer/clay lube -1:128
-I use D114 at 1:256 for damp sanding with my 6" 3m orbital sander and mirka abralon sanding discs (I keep it 1:256 in a trigger sprayer as well as putting it in a 2 gallon bucket for soaking my discs)
-I use it at 1:128 to presoak my wheels, presoak bugs, clean windows coated with opti-glass, with a soft boar's hair detail brush to clean sealed trim.
-Removing light residues and neutralizing the high alkaline APC I used to actually clean leather and vinyl
I have tried N-914 and although it's scent makes me nauseous, for me it's performance is nearly as good as D114. There are many other uses for these products that I didn't mention, but for me what qualifies them as great "cleaners" is that they are safe to use on virtually any automotive surface without leaving behind silicones/waxes. But when it comes to removing body oils, grease, deeply embedded dirt from interiors, these products work only slightly better than pure distilled water.
All that being said, I can accomplish 90% of interior cleaning for my maintenance details with either distilled water or preferably D114 for it's added lubrication and mild sudsing action.
You will love D101 for interior cleaning. I recommend trying 15:1 initially and diluting with distilled water. Although most people find 10:1 is the sweet spot for this APC.
