    Re: For you mechanics

Costco uses only Nitrogen for their fills and refills.
They have a machine that strips out the oxygen.
It's almost identical to the gadget that people use at home to concentrate oxygen.
However, in this case the oxygen is discarded instead of the nitrogen.

    Re: For you mechanics

I used to work on the machines that separate the oxygen and nitrogen and then purge the oxygen and store the nitro in large cylinders. the nitrogen molecule is larger, the difference is very small, like one atom difference small. the nitrogen tire will still loose air but at a much slower rate. I think its 1/3rd slower then air so while its false that it never needs to be topped up but true that it will last longer and fluctuate less.

    Unless their "nitrogen process" is
    absolutely totally free...
Tell your sister to save her money,
and just check the tires' pressures
    on a regular basis---(that's where
you can help her out a little bit).

Put the "free" air in and check it more often.

I think we just assumed it was a hyper-miling technique.

    Re: For you mechanics

Agree unless it's free and doesn't take any extra time pass it. Regular air is 79% nitrogen approximately anyways. Usually other sources of leaks before air molecules are a factor.

I have a nitro machine and don't even use it in our personal cars.

If you were doing the salt flats at 200 maybe it would be more stable or something but daily driver pointless just another $ making selling tool.
