    Question Meguiar's M16 Wax vs. Meguiar's M26 Hybrid Wax

So here's an odd one for you guys who have experience using both. I'm a huge fan of the old, now long discontinued M16 Mirror Glaze blue wax. I can use everything else, but I always wind up coming back to my trusty old #16. I now also have a can of the current hybrid M26 paste wax sitting on my shelf taunting me to use it on my wife's dark metallic (Galaxy) blue '15 WRX. I'm tempted once the weather breaks.

In the meantime, I'm wondering what those of you who have used both feel about the results with each. I have heard great things about M26, and used it MANY years ago in liquid form, but couldn't tell you what it looked like from memory, other than it smelled like bananas.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions on how they measure up to each other, especially considering now that M16 is extinct.

bananas indeed. or something like that.

I've used both. When I first started this crazy journey into detailing, M26 was my first wax. It was my go-to. I had sold people on it. It's a decent wax.

I had a chance to buy some NOS (new old stock) of M16 and LOVED it on my blue metallic finish. Between the two, I think I'd prefer the M16. I've actually been considering parting ways with the M26 recently.

    I still love the M26.

I rarely use it on it's own though. I apply it to paint that has a coat of M21 on it.

    Re: Meguiar's M16 Wax vs. Meguiar's M26 Hybrid Wax

My M16 supply was nearing the end of the tin when I found out a few years ago that it was going away. I found someone that had 3 or 4 cans of it stashed away and they didn't have any use for it. They sold it to me for almost nothing, so I think my supply will last me the remainder of my lifetime, as well as my kids.

As a side note, I have seen it posted on more than a couple of occasions that they recommended that it gets applied, let dry to a haze, then remove, but I have found over the years that if you apply it like most other high end waxes (like M26) in 2x2 squares and then remove it before it dries, it shines up nice and lasts a long time on any finish. One of the cars I did last September with it is still beading up quite strong today. Really great stuff. Shame it had to go away.

    Re: Meguiar's M16 Wax vs. Meguiar's M26 Hybrid Wax

Both are great waxes but, when it's between the paste waxes. I would go with M16 over 26. M16 is hard in the can making it easier to apply allowing the user to use less. I still have m16 on hand to to M20 for the winter time.

m16 has a look close to P21s last longer than 26 but, 26 makes the paint deeper and can last for at least 3 mos.

    Did someone say M16?

I always thought it felt like smearing crayons on my paint...

Yep, I use the paste too!

I have a tin of M16, but I haven't used it yet. Maybe I'll put some over the M21 on my gf's truck..
