4star UPP works great in the nasty salt bathed winters. Used it in the past and held up way longer and that's using the drive thru brushless washes. Btw, I'm 2hrs south of Chicago. Trying out the HD Poxy this year.

My favorite so far for the Chicagoland winters is Essence, let sit overnight to fully cure, then top with BFWD sealant. It's some of the slickest paint I've ever felt, and it comes clean super easy.

I'm a fan of Collinite 476. Being a fellow Chicagoan, I feel your pain. The salt here is awful.

    What are Chicago winters like?

Simple, a metric ton of salt dumped per block distance on all main streets, and 2 metric tons of salt dumped at every intersection.

Meaning in about 4-5 year's time, you'll be able to do a Freddy Flinstone with your legs through the floorboards due to rust-corrosion.

Not to mention the extreme damage it does once the salt enters the water (streams, creeks, rivers, lakes etc.) Wrecks havoc on the wildlife - fish and birds especially impacted. Growing up as a kid in NJ the roads were rarely ever salted - and we drove rear wheel drive boats, and guess what - we made it to where we needed to go. Fast forward 25 years to the day where we have all wheels drive, four wheel drive, traction control, anti lock brakes - you name it, and the roads are salted to high heaven so no township, municipality or state gets sued by the litigious world we live in.

...but a good portion of that long-term damage can be avoided if you at least rinse the car off (thoroughly) a few times over the winter to remov the layered salt along with a good pre-winter prep.

    Praying for a mild winter,

    ScottH

FK1000p. Isn't the best for beauty but dang durable. It's all I have been using on my black Yukon that's sits in 105 Texas heat. It'll last me all summer.

    ^^ this

OP'er, Collinite 476 is among the most durable products out there in winter. I'd use that if you're not going to coat the vehicle.

This is a key point to my winter car care. I've mapped out all of the touchless car washes in my area's equipped with an underbody spray. I select the wash option that includes that feature, and then drive REALLY slowly over the spray heads once they come on. Drives the attendants nuts some times, but at least I know I'm doing all I can to keep the rust at bay.
