Top away as soon as you're done. I top HD Speed with Optimum Spray Wax. Absolute amazing!!
I always top Speed right away. No need to wait.
I'm going to use Speed for the first time on my girlfriends car and I too will be topping it with either 845 or possibly power lock. My question though is whether or not you should do a IPA wipedown prior to topping speed? Usually, I would do a IPA wipedown without a doubt, but since speed has a sealant/wax combo, I was a bit unsure of what to do here...all feedback appreciated!
I wouldn't wipe it down. I used HD Speed & topped it with 845 (3 coats) back in late August.
Although the beading isn't quite what it was right after I applied this combo, 8 months and one awful NY winter later it is still beading water very, very well.
Hope this helps.
There is a thread on testing several sealants lately, and HD poxy is the first one to die within a month, and that is true from my several experiences with them. Also, there is several report as well that Speed will die within 2-3 weeks, and I confirm that.
You are going to use 845, which is super durable wax, do you want something pretty week between car and 845 or not? Do you think it will interfere with 845 and clear coat bonding or not? For me yes, I will wipe down with IPA or something. There is a reasons why coating require direct bonding, good wax either. But in the end you is the one who make the call, wipe down the whole car only take few minutes.
Here is the 6 LSPs teating thread.
