What is the longest lasting wax?
Hey guys,
I am sure I will be opening a can of worms here, but I am wondering what your guys' thoughts are on this topic. What do you think is the longest lasting or most robust wax?
I live in Arizona and own a 2014 F-150. It is garaged, but of course I spend 8-10 hours a day at work and there is no covered parking spots. The AZ sun really takes a toll on paint. So far this is what I have tried:
1. Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion followed by Pinnacle Liquid Souveran
2. HD Speed followed by HD Poxy (although I think the HD Speed alone would have been fine) - I was very very impressed with HD Speed
The AIO products are a HUGE plus because doing my truck (four door) is a real pain with how big it is.
I have some Collinite 845 and I have heard many times that it is probably the longest lasting wax. I am not looking for the best shine, but simply for the product that will protect my paint, especially during summer months.
I am tempted to maybe go with the Pinnacle Liquid Souveran followed by the Collinite 845?
What do you guys think?

Re: What is the longest lasting wax?
If you want the longest lasting LSP possible, go with a paint coating. That will last you the longest time. There are lots of choices out there.
If you want the traditional LSP then a sealant is better than a wax. Seems like you already have one of the longest lasting sealants out there - Collinite 845. I wouldn't change that not unless you want to buy more product.
No need to top of your 845 with the liquid souveran. They're the same purpose (paint protection). Just apply 845 more often.

Re: What is the longest lasting wax?
Cool - paint coatings are a little over my head and I think pretty pricey - I guess a good cleaner wax like the Pinnacle Cleaner wax followed by the Collinite 845 may be my best option.
OR maybe event he HD Speed followed by the Collinite 845?

Interesting...so clay, then use pre prep, then spray that on...I may have to look into that. Will one bottle be enough for a truck?

The 4oz bottle can probably be used for 10+ cars!
Here are some good articles on how to apply the McKee's 37 Paint Coating:

Sweet...looks like that may be the way to go then...

Re: What is the longest lasting wax?
If you're looking for "wax" wax, how about products with lots of montan wax? It's pretty hard stuff and if you can get it on and off, it's supposed to hold on to the paint a little longer than the other natural waxes. Other than that, you're probably looking at combo products with natural & synthetic ingredients, or polymer sealants--if you don't want to venture into the various coatings.
(I was writing while the above was being posted. Looks like you have a good plan. Let us know how it works.)

Definitely is the way to go if you're looking for the longest lasting LSP available.
