Re: LC Hybrid grey heavy cutting pads
So I'm detailing the CL550 today and started out with an orange hybrid and 360. The thing barely cleans up water spot etchings. I tried compound and orange and didn't fair much better. Scratching my head, I tried the grey pad and fast compound (mckee's 37). It did little better, but it didn't mar the paint. Either this benz has a very hard clearcoat, or even grey pads have a tough time lol. this one just one spot on the hood. Rest of the car wasn't too bad.
ANYWAYS, I just wanted to say the grey pads stay hard the entire time you work it. Pretty amazing. Using a flex, the pad got pretty hard and it softened just a tad. and it still didn't mar the paint. I would say it was lsp ready lol.
Pretty cool pad, but I think you'd have to be careful on soft or general hardness clear.
I would say make sure you prime that pad well because the product doesn't go in the pores of the pad well like the orange and white.

Grey pad is way too stiff, IMO

Re: LC Hybrid grey heavy cutting pads
Are these pads good with Rupes polishers?

Re: LC Hybrid grey heavy cutting pads
The grey thin pro pad feels like stiff cardboard. Besides the point it can hammer down on some neglected finishes without scouring them.

On a FLAT panel, I could see where they might be good. SUPER stiff pad.

Used some of these today w/ M101 on a 3401. 2008 Econoline E250 svc van with 150k miles...was surprised how well it worked considering was first time I used Flex and how hammered the paint was. Stiff pad for sure. Just me but seems like UHS pad is harder. Not necessarily stiffer, kinda equal there but 'harder'
