    Tornador question

    Hey all,

Question about tornador tools. How much air is needed to run one? I have a small pancake air compressor in my garage, will that run one?

    Thanks

    Re: Tornador question

I think it is 9.5 cubic feet per minute at 90 PSI. The pancake will only work for 1-2 minutes and then power drops dramatically. It then takes about 5 minutes to recharge.

    Re: Tornador question

The pancake compressor won't cut it. I haven't been able to use my Tornador in a year since I no longer have access to a large compressor. I have switched to steam instead for the most parts and improvised as needed. I don't really miss my Tornador.

    Re: Tornador question

I just picked up a new compressor that puts out 5.3 cfm at 90 psi. It's a California Air Tools 10020C 2 hp with a 10 gallon tank. It does pretty good but I wish the tank was bigger as it drops to about a constant 75-80 psi during continuous use. Ideally I think you want at least 5 cfm at 90 psi to get the most out of a Tornador.

They have a 15 gallon with same motor
    Horizontal layout instead of verticle
Buy a 5 or 10 gallon auxiliary tank..just make sure PSI is same or greater then compressor tank

    Re: Tornador question

I just bought a Tornado Black and have a 13 gal 6.7 cfm 3.5 HP compressor. One thing to note, make sure that you have good tight fittings, as a leaky fit causes way too much air loss and the Tornado really suffers.
