What are these for? Hose washers?

My foam gun came with 2 of these washers inside the connector. What are they for and do I need them? What are these for? Hose washers?-imageuploadedbyagonline1462307148-787167-jpg

Is that the hand sprayer you are holding upside down? If so, yes you need a washer to connect to your water hose.

I use Teflon tape anyway on the tip and with no washer it was fine so I will just put them aside

Wait, you use Teflon tape on the male end of your garden hose?

I'm assuming these are for if the hose does not screw all the way into the nozzle, almost to fill the extra spot that is not able to get screwed in because the male end is not long enough (if that was the case)
