To a degree....coated leather doesn't mean impenetrable or in this case impermeable.

Care
Caring for pigmented leather is truly about keeping the leather clean. Dirt and particulate will scratch and wear the leather leading to shiny appearance and exposure of the leather hide underneath. Acidic body oils can wear or stain the vacuum frequently and use a gentle, water based cleaner to remove embedded dirt and oil. Use a protectant or conditioner that features protectants (to reduce abrasion and increase sun fade resistance). Over time the leather coating will crack microscopically or stretch in the seams and folds. Conditioners can penetrate the coating through these cracks and openings, keeping the leather underneath soft and supple.

Re: Guide to Leather Care?
Wow. This is exactly what I was looking for. The people who made my seat covers said the same thing. Water on damp cloth and do it often. I am 3 years in and other than increased cracks (which I think are normal) good to go. The driver seat is the only one used, the rest look brand new.

Re: Guide to Leather Care?
The only leather on a C7, in fact all Chevrolet's, is the center piece on the seat and the upright seat where your back meets the seat. If you don't believe me look at the backside of any piece of the seat except the center pieces and you will see a white cloth/thin foam backing. Cows don't have this on their hides so it is safe to assume it is not leather.

Re: Guide to Leather Care?
So if I have aniline leather and vinyl comprising my seats and I clean them with a damp cloth, is there a recommended product I can use every 3-6 months to maintain that urethane coating? I have an older vehicle where the driver's side bolster has cracked and torn (vinyl) and I would like to avoid that with proper maintenance if possible on a newer car. To keep things simple I was thinking: Optimum Protectant Plus offers complete protection for interior leather, vinyl, plastic & rubber dressing. vinyl and rubber dressing, vinyl

If you don't believe me look.
I've looked at my C7's seating appointments
on many occasions; and, as such: I find your
above statement to not be factual.

Re: Guide to Leather Care?
I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this but I used diluted CarPro P.E.R.L. on Chrysler 300 leather. I'm fairly certain that this is coated leather. The results were pretty great. It wasn't greasy at all and seemed to clean the leather at the same time. It gave the black leather a very slight shine which looked pretty good to me.
