Congrats! Enjoy the freedom! lol As for advice, I would look in your owners manual to see the intervals for service and always pay attention to the status of your oil, air filter and tires... Also when driving, pay attention to every action you make, always think ahead before you do anything. And ALWAYS pay attention! Especially ahead of you.. Another thing for keeping your car running good is don't do a lot of fast braking or jack rabbit starts. Lastly, you will learn a lot of what you need to know over time when driving. Have fun and be careful!
p.s. Stay clear of rush hour traffic if you can! lol
Seriously though, just take it easy for a while. Don't be like all the other kids speeding all over the place and always distracted. Don't start the being on the phone habit either while driving. I'm only 20 but I've seen enough incidents to keep me off the phone. That's the reason why I have an air horn now.
Just remember to watch out for the idiots out there!
Heh, people talk about the phone thing all the time. I have an issue staying awake sometimes while driving. Talking on the phone makes me a better driver at times.

There was a 20/20 special years back that concluded being tired while driving is basically worse than driving drunk.
The most basics you can do for your car is ensure the oil and filter is changed with the correct type every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Make sure your tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The basics. As mentioned above, check your service intervals to see what is recommended and just follow them. You will have no problems!
Be safe out there. Don't speed or try to show off to any friends, I see it all the time and after my friend hydroplaned by going too fast around a corner and slamming into one guard rail then the other is not worth it. Be a defensive driver! Expect someone to do something stupid and that they probably don't know that your car is there(even though they most likely don't).
