Re: Best vacuum for under $40?
^ That one is really neat. I like that but...
I purchased the Rigid 5HP WD4050 (or something like that).
The guy had it in the box and it looks brand new, no scratches dirt dust etc. Filter is brand new. It lacks a muffler, but it still isn't all that loud surprisingly. $40.
I haven't gave it a try yet in my car, but I caused a little mess with snacks to clean up to see. And it lifted the crumbs right off the table! I was amazed.
I can't wait to vacuum my car but it's pouring buckets

do you guys directly apply a vacuum hose to leather seats to pick up crumbs and debris? it may sound stupid..but i've been debating how to vacuum leather seats without harming the leather.

I will use a brush on the seams to break up dirty in cracks and then vacuum normally. You can use an attached with a brush if you want a combo.

The only thing is, it doesn't hold a ton of stuff before emptying. I'm very pleased with it. It's powerful enough to lift the carpet up off the floor, and ,sucks liquids out of carpets well. Also , it hangs up out of the way on your wall, as space is important to me.
I have the same one. Brought at Lowes for $30.00. Works real good as a vac and blower.

Re: Best vacuum for under $40?
Sorry for bumping an old thread but it is indication that I searched first, How much HP are we looking for in a good vacuum? Do we really need 4-6hp vac's ? It looks like some are getting away with 2.5hp ones just fine.

I bought small $35 shop vac from Wal-Mart with 2.5hp and I'm running 25 ft hoses with no loss of suction they work great.

I couldn't imagine using anything smaller then 5 hp. I use a 6 or so hp shop vac from lowes. I just wish the vac's container was smaller.

+1 for this one. I use the same one except mine isn't Lowes branded. Shop Vac makes the exact same vacuum under their own brand, available at Amazon or many hardware stores around $40 -$50.
I agree with swanicyouth -- plenty of suction. I did purchase a longer hose for mine so it can sit outside the car while I reach most anywhere I need to go in the vehicle.

igotyofire.
I am used to at least 5hp. It's hard to downgrade on any power tool. You're just setting yourself up for dissapointment. On the other hand, if you're getting your first vacuum I guess it doesn't matter.
