Clear coat is paint without pigment. Yes they can resist them. They don't last forever, GTechniq says C1 will last 5 years, which is way more than a coat of wax will last.
If you are referring to expensive wax, then its about the look as much as anything else. Swissvax Crystal Rock in 3 layers lasts about a year max.

Evidently you haven't done all of your homework. Search around, there is plenty of technical information and demonstrated proof of what we're talking about, here. (Note that much of it exists outside of this particular forum/site, but it's not hard to find.)
Sorry, but "paint and body guys" don't typically know much about waxes/sealants/coatings. They're not going to be much help to you on that front.

Well, I tested CQuartz and Opticoat with Muratic Acid and Straight Chlorine as well as other things and yes it resisted them. Check out the videos in my thread for yourself.

Do you understand the purpose of permanent paint coatings and how they completely differ from clear coat?
