    Suede/Alcantra maintenance and protection

    Hello all!

I recently purchased a new 2022 Ford F150 platinum. I absolutely love the truck and it’s gorgeous interior. However, I noticed it has a suede like material as an accent throughout the interior. It is a very light tan color and it’s already turning a little darker on the driver seat from blue Jean transfer. With that being said, I would really like to put a coating of some sort on it to protect it and keep it nice for years to come. What do you guys recommend? I do not want to put leather 2.0 on it because I’m nervous that it will mess it up somehow. Is there a coating that exist that I can put on it to protect it? What is the best way to clean it? Thanks in advance!

One way to avoid dye transfer is to stop wearing new blue jeans (or lay a towel down).

To clean I get a damp wash mit, spray apc rub, then come back with a dry cotton towel to dry.

For protection I use 303 fabric protector.

On the leather/vinyl use whatever you've been using.

I'm not a fan of interior coatings.

I love that combo. Best of both worlds and very attractive. Congratulations on your new ride!

Thanks! I used leather 2.0 on the wife’s Tesla and actually like it BUT I think on this I’m just going to keep it clean and conditioned. But the suede absolutely needs a protectant. This is an every day driver so gym, job sites, etc. it all happens in here Suede/Alcantra maintenance and protection.

My truck has had a towel on the driver's seat since new.

    Folex.
Best way is to follow the directions on the bottle, that means don’t take a brush to it when using Folex because that’s not what they instruct you to do. All you need is your fingers [preferably wearing nitrile gloves] and a clean towel to mop up and it works phenomenal and doesn’t require rinsing which is a nice added + because it doesn’t leave any residue. It’s even clear to boot.

Play around with microfiber and cotton terry towels and decide which ones mop up better for you. But Folex works outstanding on alcantera. I’ve done a handful of vehicles and it’s never let me down.

Sonax has a dedicated cleaner for it. Keeping ti clean on a regular basis is sometimes all you need.

SONAX Upholstery and Alcantara Cleaner, best alcantara cleaner

Colourlock also has a cleaner and protectant for alcantara. I would recommend taking a look at those. I would also recommedn their leather shield for the rest of the surfaces along with their mild leather cleaner.

I am guessing that Leather 2.0 is from Carpro. Actually this version is one of the better ones as it is water based.

Thanks all! I did some reading and grabbed some Geyon leather shield and fabric shield. Apparently both of these work well together and fabric shield can be used on this stuff as well. I’ll keep everyone updated!

My BRZ interior is covered in microsuede. I'm using the Dr. Beasly's aclatera/microsuede products. They have a cleaner and a protectant.
