IronX not doing anything | defective???
I have a bottle of IronX which I believe I purchased last year. Never opened the bottle.
This is the first time using this product.
A few moments ago, I sprayed the hood of my car with the IronX and
wiped it into the paint with a damp sponge. I waited 5 minutes but the
white IronX did not turn color or do much of anything. I rinsed it off with a damp sponge
and then with a garden hose. Feeling the surface of the hood, the same particulates that were
there before are still there.
So does this mean I have no iron particulates in my hood surface or perhaps the IronX is bad?
I do use ceramic pads on all 4 brake calipers so the only metallic particle generator would be the
surfaces of the rotors themselves.

Spray it on something iron around your garage like a nail or something and see what happens
The stuff on your hood could be many other things, overspray, sap, etc

Re: IronX not doing anything | defective???
I sprayed some IronX on a rusty nail and waited a bit, and did get purple residue on the nail. Perhaps the stuff gets weak from sitting in a bottle for a year, though I see no expiration date.
I guess I just don't have any iron particulate matter on my car. I did notice after I rinsed the IronX off, that the sheen on the paint was gone, but definitely feel embedded particles in the paint.
Will just have to clay the car. I thought I read somewhere that people were using IronX instead of claying, but I don't think that is possible?
OH YEAH, I forgot to mention I have a black car. It is a 2017 Honda Accord Sport SE with "black pearl" paint.

Did you look for an expiration label on the bottom of the bottle?

Re: IronX not doing anything | defective???
Ah, The expiration is on the bottom. Well it appears that I bought this before covid, my memory is faulty. The bottom sticker says "25 6 20", so it would seem that it is expired. Will have to get a new bottle.

Re: IronX not doing anything | defective???
I will be polishing and sealing the car tomorrow because the weather will be perfect. I don't have a garage.
It would take until this weekend to ship a new bottle of IronX to me. So I guess I will be doing without, unless
there happens to be a local retailer that carries the stuff.

There are more than likely other brands at various parts stores, Walmart, etc unless you absolutely have to have Iron X
Just mentioning it

Yes, I believe Meguiars makes a similar product. The autobody and paint supply store stocks some Meguiars stuff.
I can check online if Autozone or Advanced auto carries another brand too.
