    did some 800 grit wet sanding..97 M3

    I know I know..its a bit much....800

I used orange lake foam pad and M105 to get out the scratches....Im not thrilled...I still see a cloudiness...I have NOT used any finishing polish yet

What other compound/polish and pad combo should I try?.....Im a diyer type, not a pro. im using a PC DA machine

    thnx!!!

What you are seeing is sanding/compound haze from using a heavy grit. Move up on your sanding grit paper. Try 1200 and finish with 3000. This will make your polishing much easier.

What were you trying to sand out?

Did you wet sand or sand dry?

Was it a spot sand or did you do the whole vehicle?

800 is too harsh , that what bodyshops use after the apply clear coat, mind you the clear coat thickness is much higher after a paint job

Having said that, you are supposed to sand it with 1500 after , then 3000 if you want to make your job easier

Then you should be able to get rid of the hazing with orange pad m105 , otherwise I would think that a yellow LC pad with m105 may do the trick or a wool pad

Holy crap 800!!! I hope you took paint depth readings before doing that!

The lower grit I would go to on car paint is 1500. Then you have to work your way up:
    - 2000 grit
    - 2500 if you can but can be skipped
    - 3000

Then you need to compound the scratches out with a rotary if you have one, if not a DA will work but takes more time. On rotary you can use wool, on DA use the most agressive pad you have Denim>Wool>Microfiber cutting>Foam cutting. For compound use the most aggresive one you have again, M105 works well but dusts.

You then finish with your DA with the orange pad and a polish like M205.
