Re: PC 7424 & Mystic Paint!!

For you Mustang you are going to need the Meguiars 105 and 205 since your paint is on the harder side. The Wolfgang stuff is just not going to be strong enough for you. Also keep in mind that polishing the paint is what gives you shine, depth and clarity. The lsp is just there to protect all your hard work. I have done numerous Mystic Mustangs and Wolfgang sealant, Souveran, Poorboys Natty's Blue, Blackfire sealant, Zymol Vintage, Lusso Oro beta wax, and several of the high end Swissvax waxes all they all looked great.

All of the Mustangs I have worked on have had fairly soft paint, was able to dial in a succesful procedure with just M205. guess it just depends on that one car since you wont know how hard or soft the paint is until you go out and start working on it.

Be sure to post pictures when your done.

What year was the Mustang, the newer ones all have harder paint. If it was newer I would have to say it might have been repainted.

The 96 I could see being soft, but the 05 has hard paint from the factory.

My mystic is a 1996! So is it hard or soft? I've also been told the megs 105 isn't very easy to work with if your a newb, truth?

Also I will be getting extra pads, probably CCS orange, white, and blue. There is only one spot on the car with some minor scratches but the rest of it is just swirls.

Also to clarify if anyone doesn't know...

Mystic and Mystichrome are completly different colors from different years! Mystic only in 1996 cobras and Mystichrome on 04 cobras. Same color changing characteristics but different colors!

I looked at your code for the photobucket image in the first post on this page and it might be the reason the photo didn't show up is because of the way a word was spelled using lowercase letters instead of upper case letters.

Is this the picture you wanted to show?

What does the paint look like under bright light?

Do you see swirls in the clearcoat? Look at the pictures below and see if anything looks familiar as it relates to your car's finish. T

Re: PC 7424 & Mystic Paint!!

When it comes to polishing paint, here's the basics...

    • Evaluate the condition of the finish
    • Use the results of your evaluation to help you choose the right products
    • Use good technique

That's the simple version but it's how you approach ever detailing project. After you gather your products and pads the next thing you're going to want to do is called a Test Spot.

That's where you test out your products and process and dial in a system that works perfectly to one small area and after you prove your system to your test spot then you simply duplicate that process over the rest of the car.
