    I’ve seen it many times. That took me about 6 cars to find. I had a mountaineer that had real low miles with Michelin’s that did that same thing on the side walls. My treads weren’t that bad though.

    Don your tires just look worn. A lot of miles and just end of their life. Definitely not a tire shine issue. Many tire shops don’t know much about tires other than they are black and round.

    A lot of the side wall dry rot I have seen starts near the rim low like that when there is quite a lot of tread left. The example i posted had the middle of the sidewall cracking.

    Oil based products WILL break down rubber, water based products WILL NOT. It's chemically unlikely to occur anyways, since they are water based.

    Most over the counter tire dressings and shines are cheap oil based ones.

    Aka petroleum distillates... I've noticed that too, especially on interior plastic/vinyl/rubber surfaces which is why I try to steer clear of any products that contain them.
