Meguiar's #7 a good finishing polish?
I emailed Meguiar's to ask them which polish would be a good one to use as a finishing polish after using their 205. They suggested Mirror Glaze #7. Is this a good product to use prior to applying sealant? Also, is it a good one to use by hand or by DA?

After #205, you are ready for your sealant. #7 is for single stage paints.

#7 has been around for nearly 100 years, it is one of the best non-abrasive polishes out there. Typically applied before an LSP, either #26 or Sealant. I've never used #7 with a DA only by hand. The question is why do you feel it's required after you've already used 205 on the vehicle? After 205, I would go right to LSP.

Not entirely so... It's also a good application for one that is getting ready for a car-show and has swirls and scratches in their clear coat, but does not have time to do a full paint correction. #7 will hide all those nasty blemishes... the downfall is after a few days to a week, or a good wash or rain, it's no longer providing the same aesthetic look.
But you are correct, no need for #7 after 205.

205 as I understand it is a finishing polish and you should be able to go straight to your LSP once it's done. #7 is a glaze and not a polish. From everything I've seen here on the product it has no abrasives at all. If you search here for some of the threads here Mike Phillips has done on #7, you'll see it has a pretty specific purpose but might not work very well for normal applications.
Is 205 not finishing out well enough for you? Maybe moving up to a less aggressive pad will finish out more to your liking.

•Got to keep in mind that Meguiar's
has their own detail-speak.
-Their definition of products intended for
the paint's Polishing stage, is usually quite
different than their definition of products
intended for the paint's Cleaning stages.
-M07 is a pure polish (no paint "Cleaning"
abrasives) that contains, among other
ingredients, their famous Trade Secret Oils.
{Therefore, IMO:
It then becomes a "Best Practice" to use
one of the Meguiar's Sealants if you are
going to be applying M07 after M205.}
-If M205 isn't meeting your paint-Finishing
expectations, you could try using Meguiar's
Ultimate Polish---it does contains some of
their mildest paint "Cleaners"/(abrasives).
•On the otherhand:
-When using most other Brands of car-care
products...I usually think of a Final Polish
as a product to squeeze-out (via abrasives)
that last little bit of smoothness as possible.

Re: Meguiar's #7 a good finishing polish?
The 205 seems to leave a slight "hazy" look, not the wet look I'm looking for. Maybe I'm not using it properly. Should the 205 be used with a DA polisher? I've been using it by hand...
