    Reappearing Water Spot Damage

    Hey guys,

I recently bought a 2009 CTSV. The car is in great shape besides the paint. It had some pretty bad water spots to the point some of the spots were dull and had some little bird bomb etching/spots too. I have a GG 6" DA and have used Meg Ultimate Compound on the car followed by GG 1 step paint sealant. The car looked beautiful when I finished applying everything to the car but I parked the car outside today long enough to clean and wax another car and by the time I got back to pulling the CTSV back in the garage I noticed all of the hard spots have reappeared on the hood, roof, and trunk of the car. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm just scratching my head at this point.

BTW the sun was beating down pretty hard today here. I think it actually hit the 80's.

Is it not possible that the combination of it being a hot day and you polishing heated up the paint, expanding it and making it appear as though the water spots had been removed, only for them to 're-appear' once the paint cooled down and returned to its original 'shape'?

I had actually done all the work to the V about 2 weeks ago. This is probably the first time it has baked in the sun since.

It happened to me before too. IMO you need to redo the process again. I did and since then never happened again. The other otion is to buy one of AGO's water Spot remover. There are a couple of great brands that do well in removing water spots. I know someone at AGO will give you a product to use.

Kamakaz - I might try applying it one more time to see if that works. I will call them and see what water spot remover they recommend. It just sucks to spend all that time and it comes right back like I never hardly touched the car

oneheadlite - So from reading that thread, it sounds like I need to heat the car up in the sun and then try to polish it back out to get to all of the blemishes? I don't know if I completely understood all of that because they were covering like high end coatings as well. I always thought the car should be cool when you try to polish/wax/seal etc.

    Re: Reappearing Water Spot Damage

Should I try reapplying the Meg Ultimate Compound or should I switch to another product like Meg 105/205, Griot's FAST Fast Correcting Cream, or Menzerna? Im trying to hold off for another warm day to redo this thing. Just looking to get some product on the way. I hate to waste more time if I can avoid it.

I woukd suggest using a 50/50 wool pad, then working your way down to foam pads. Should take everything out. Don't worry about the clear, let the pad and abrasive do the work.
