    As mentioned, pick up some CarPro Tar-X and re accomplish the task. Then follow up with a polishing or compounding session if needed.

    Could also try a chemical paint cleaner like Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion. Might do nothing, but if it can remove paint transfer (which polishing does not) it may also help to remove the residue you are having difficulty with. Least aggressive method first right? Worth a shot IMHO before compounding...

    Since when does polishing not take off paint transfer?

    You could go to your local auto parts store, Walmart and pick up Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Start with the polish first, if that doesn't work then use the compound.

    Body shop says it needs to be wet sanded and buffed. It's etched into the clear coat.
