Detailing engine bay without water, tornador,steamer and liquids etc.

Hello all,

Is there any way to safely detail an engine bay without any steamer, tornador, water, too much liquid etc.?

All I have is meguiars APC and tatty towels, mothers brushes and wheel woolies. I have no experience with engine bays, have no idea what is what in there and do not want to risk anything. Just a way to make it look nicer. All I know how to do is check my oil, coolant, washer fluid and that's about it.

1. If I could use APC and towels to just wipe down whatever I can, what ratio would it be used at? 10:1? I use this for tire maintenance and 4:1 for neglected tires.

2. Can I use Aerospace 303 as an engine bay protectant?

You're fine with Meguiar's APC at 4:1 or 10:1. Use a spray bottle with water and clean towels to rinse and dry residue of APC. 303 should work fine as protectant.

I am not a huge proponent of spraying down modern engine bays with water either. To many electrical connectors and sensors.

I think your strategy is just fine. You could even try just a damp towel to wipe down whatever you can reach. Fortunately, if you are referring to the engine compartment in your Honda Accord, its pretty roomy, so you can reach a good deal of it. And using any plastic protectant that doesnt leave a residue is fine. 303 is a good one.

I think your strategy is just fine. You could even try just a damp towel to wipe down whatever you can reach. Fortunately, if you are referring to the engine compartment in your Honda Accord, its pretty roomy, so you can reach a good deal of it. And using any plastic protectant that doesnt leave a residue is fine. 303 is a good one.

Been power washing modern engines for years and it's never been an issue. Modern engines have sealed spark plugs.
