Most will last ~ 2 years if the panels are prepared properly and they do add a layer of resistance to chipping.

There is prep-work involved as well. Any bit you can do will save money and you'll learn a lot in the process.

Usually starts with full paint correction (Compound & Polish), then a final ISP or CarPro Eraser wipe down to get rid of the contaminants left by the cutting and polishing.

Where are you located? Perhaps a fellow forum member can give some assistance.

Are you kidding me? There are no coatings that help with chipping. The only thing strong enough to stop any kind of chipping is PPF. If anyone says anything different is full a crap. This kind of post is why I stopped posting in forums anymore. Everyone once in awhile I need to stop the BS.

    Re: ceramic coatings

Ask yourself this...can your clearcoat go two years without ever having to do routine maintenance polishing? The answer is no unless you never drive the car or its in a dustless, rainless, environmentally pristine storage room. A coating is exposed to what the clearcoat used to be exposed to...so to think you can go two years without the coating being damaged or compromised is why the longevity debate regarding what the coating manufacturers claim is pure bull. Chances are better than 90% that at some point before the laboratory theoretical longevity claim is met...you will have polished some or all of the coating off...especially if you are a guy who wants a near perfect looking car...and coatings do scratch and chip and get etched just as easily as clearcoat, despite their claims. Does a coating protect better than a wax or sealant? Yes...but keep thing in perspective.
In my day we didn't have the Internet, iPods,iPads, or smart phones....but we had some really bad-azz cars.
