Training Cars for May 2015 Detailing Boot Camp Class

Training Cars for May 2015 Detailing Boot Camp Class

There will be 7 cars here for this three day class!

These classes are the most hands-on classes in the industry. There's very little sitting time but a whole lot of learning time but that requires a lot of cars to cover all the tools, products and techniques you'll learn when you attend one of our classes.

    Tool options include,

    • Rupes Bigfoot Orbital Polishers
    • Flex 3401 Forced Rotation/Oscillation Dual Action Polisher
    • Meguiar's MT300 Dual Action Polisher
    • Cyclo Mark 5 Orbital Polishers
    • Entry level DA Polishers = Porter Cable - Griot's Garage - Meguiar's G100v2
The tool set chosen for this car will be determined after all the cars for this class have been confirmed.

Here's our first car... this is a beautiful 1956 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. Here's a picture I took of the car on display at a car show.

This beautiful 1956 Chevy Bel Air Convertible will be one of the cars the May class gets to work on. It appears to have a very high quality paint job but over the years the paint has become rough with contamination and it's filled with swirls and scratches. There's also ARC Scratches and Tracers.

So while the paint might look fine in this first picture...

These photos tell a different story...

The picture below is cropped out of the picture above...

The next three pictures below were cropped out of the picture above...

This picture was cropped out of the picture above and is pretty much what the paint on the entire car looks like.

Beautiful interior will also be steam cleaned using the Dupray Steam Cleaner.

Re: Training Cars for May 2015 Detailing Boot Camp Class

Here's another car I've lined up for the upcoming May Detailing Boot Camp Class.

Note this car has a modern basecoat/clearcoat paint job so while "yes" it's a classic Chevy, everything about how we detail this car applies to the Honda Accord or Ford Escort in your garage or driven by your customer.

1955 Chevy 210 - Former Museum Car - Extreme Makeover!

This car only has 49,000 original miles. In fact, the odometer flipped to 49,000 as Carlos and All drove into the Autogeek parking lot.

This car spent the majority of its life in a Museum in Cornwall, New York. At some point in time it was re-painted using a basecoat/clearcoat paint system. I inspected the car and the paint very closely and it appears to have a really nice paint job except for all the zillions of swirls in the paint.

Besides normal wear-n-tear swirls it's very obvious in full sun that that last time this car was machine buffed someone used only a rotary buffer for the last machine buffing step and the holograms are severe enough that it's my guess a wool finishing pad was used, not a foam pad.

These swirls and holograms plus horrendous water spots and oxidation make this the PERFECT LEARNING CAR for the students in my upcoming Detailing Boot Camp Class to be held Friday May 1st, Saturday May 2nd and Sunday May 3rd.

While the car was here I used the hot, bright overhead sun to document the current condition of the old Shoebox Chevy.

    1955 Chevy 210 2-door

Check out the horrific water spots and swirls around the hood ornament!

This is a section cropped out of the above picture to really give you a full dose of ugly!

Here's the other side of the hood....

This is the middle area of the hood out in front of the windshield....

This is the driver's side of the roof....

Here's the driver's side of the trunk lid - the holograms are super visible in this shot...

A close up of the same section of paint in the above picture....

I asked the current owner of this 1955 Chevy to 100% absolutely leave it alone until the upcoming class. Including not to wash it as I want to show my class the entire process from start to finish how to take a swirled out messed-up car like this and undo all the damage to create a true factory new looking finish.

Thank you Carlos and Al for trusting Autogeek with your classic Chevy. I promise when you get it back you'll think we re-painted it.

Already shaping up to be yet another amazing Boot Camp. Beautiful cars you have sourced so far Mike!

O how I would love to be there again for Mays Boot Camp. Two days spent at Boot Camp but I miss it as if I had been there for twenty years . . .

Some day, I will be back!

    Thanks Aaryn,

The 1962 Chrysler 300 you were able to work on has now taken a number of first places trophies including BEST PAINT.

Exactly. Large with lots of work needed plus it makes for a great experience for everyone that attends the class.

I also have a late model black Corvette as well as a swirled out Chevy Traverse and a extremely neglected Dodge Ram truck.

So it will be a very well rounded out class for everyone.

More pictures of the cars for the May class to come!

Here's 2 more cars for the May Detailing Boot Camp Class

This is a 2012 Chevy Traverse filled with swirls...

We always have a good mix of cars old and new to work on for all areas that we cover, inside, outside, engine etc.

I love the finish of that 57 Bel Air!

One day I'll have a set of drums with that finish.

She's a real cream puff except for the swirls and overall haze in the paint.

I may use this for the Rupes Bigfoot 21 and 15 class session as well as show how to use the Dupray Steam Cleaner on the interior.

Here's what a Dupray Steam Cleaner can do!

    ***Update***

Think I have obtained a very special black Cadillac for this class. Trying to get pictures this Saturday at our Cars & Coffee show. Plus I need to see her in the daylight.

Penny says there are 3 more seats open for this class.

Register for May 1st, 2nd & 3rd Detailing Boot Camp Class

I believe a Car Wash company in Colorado is sending their 3rd or 4th employee to this class.
