    New car, new product/technique?

So, I’m trying to perfect my winter protection of my vehicles. I just recently upgraded my black 08 Altima for a black 15 Genesis Ultimate. The car is only 3 months old and I want to protect the paint as much as I can since we get really rough winters up here in Northeast Ohio. I normally claybar, and buff the cars using my Dewalt rotary buffer with CCS 8.5” pads. I normally use Meguiar’s 205 Ultra Finishing polish compound and then Mequiar’s synthetic wax. Right before I sold my Altima I buffed it with Wolfgang 3.0 Total Swirl Remover before my normal buffing with great success.

My car already does have some regular surface scratches, and was thinking of doing the claybar and maybe switching over to Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (ran out of Meguiar’s polishing compound) and then a hand Mequiar’s wax. My question is, will the Wolfgang Finishing glaze be able to the rid of all the surface (they are very light surface scratches) and also which color CCS pad should I use with this glaze to minimize if any buffer holograms?
    Thanks
    Carlos

Nobody will be able to answer this 100% you need to do a http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...test-spot.html . From the sounds of it the FG should do fine but like I said you need to do the test spot to figure out which pad will cut enough and finish good enough to please you.

    And to AG!!
    It's all in the details

Thanks guys. I was doing a lot more reading last night after posting. It seems like I would be better off getting a Portercable DA to do the light cutting and final coats (especially on black cars like what we have). That might have to wait until next year. I might just claybar, hand polish and wax this year.

My car needs some correction too as well as a good Meguiars #7 rubbing for the faded paint. I'm also in NE Ohio and it looks like all the weather is going to give me time for is a good coating of Megs Ultimate Paste wax. You might have to settle for something like that too.

It is a 81 z28. Got it when I was 6 and live in Puerto Rico. We did a half restoration. Finally last fall my dad handed down to me and shipped it up.
