Wool pad vs foam wool pad

    Hi,
Should I go for Lake country's purple foamed wool pad rather than conventional wool pad? Will it cut faster and beater? Specially on hard German clear coat?

Re: Wool pad vs foam wool pad

A typical 100% Twisted wool pads will cut a little faster than a purple foamed wool, but the Purple foamed wool does have great cutting abilities and will finish with less marring than a traditional wool pad.

Not all German vehicles have hard paint, so I would always still suggest to try the least aggressive combo first. There are German Manufactures that have ceramic clear coat, which is indeed very hard. Newer Porsche vehicles are a perfect example, as you will rarely, if ever, need a compound to correct one. They are exact opposite of some other German vehicles.

    Thanks David
Will this pad work with rotary buffer? My main concern is will it remove swirls on hard clear coats like Audi Merc. Bmw.
I have detail one Porsche Boxter I love the car & its paint. It was really soft paint came out great with polish & wax.

Re: Wool pad vs foam wool pad

I just bought some of the TW pads for DA use and they seemed to work fine. Frankly, I still find it hard to use anything but foam pads, but these seem to work as well as the LC yellow CCS pads I normally use for badly marred paint.

LC is making a new Hybrid Foamed Wool Pad now too, much denser. I haven't tried it yet.

Honestly, I find the Meguiar's MF Xtra Cutting Discs to cut just as well, and they're a lot easier to maintain\clean.

    Very Nice Boxter!

Yeah, the purple foamed wool pads work very well on a Rotary buffer.

I love my PFW pads on my rotary for those occasions that call for it. I haven't used a yellow LC cutting pad in lieu of the PFW in probably 3 years.
