Pads? Hybrid vs Foam vs Hex logic foam vs Microfiber???

    Hi all,

When using Menzerna products with a Porter Cable on a newish 2012 Porsche 911 (white) which pad material (and design) do you recommend to get out fine swirls?

Or, am I going about this all wrong and should not worry so much about the pad? Are they all about equal?

Obviously I want to use the best product out there to make my life easiest and with the best results.

    Help!

    Thanks,

    Steve

A hybrid is foam, foam is foam, hex logic is foam. So your question really boils down to foam vs. MF. It really boils down to personal preference, in some cases MF is considered to have more cut or remove defects faster, but in your case it doesn't seem like that would be the overriding issue.

You can adjust your pad cut easier with foam because there are a lot more flavors of foam than MF. On the other hand, I really like MF pads--bear in mind it's always better to have a small air compressor for fluffing up the MF pads between sections.

    On that car

    With a PC

You will be able to correct almost any defect with the "Wolfgang Twins"

-Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover on a White Pad for Swirl marks

-Wolfgang Finishing Glaze, which is actually a light polish, for removing any haze or marring in sometimes "soft" Porsche paint.
Use a Grey Pad with this product.

Because the PC does not have a ton of power, most suggest going with 5 1/2" pads. I like the CCS pads from Lake Country. You will need to purchase the appropriate backing plate.

Three of each pad should be adequate. Make sure you pick-up a pad cleaning brush too.

High quality plush microfibers are a must for soft Porsche paint. I have had good luck with these. The Cobra Miracle Towel is a 75/25 blend of imported microfiber. Its one of our softest detailing towels!.

    Good Luck
