    Pc 7424xp

I've been told Porter Cable's 7424XP is the foolproof way to go for newbies. That accurate?
    Thanks!

BTW, misposted this in chat. Sorry...

Mine did good for me when I started last year and had never operated one before. Make sure you order a backing plate with it, that is the only thing in my research that was unclear to me at first. I am only a hobbyist that takes care of my own three vehicles.

While it is foolproof for newbies, you will master it after 1 panel. Most will suggest to go with the more powerful Griots Garage DA with a 5" BP.

I started off with a 7424xp and also have a rotary. I do find myself using the PC more often than the rotary.

Go with a Griots, more power, and good price and warranty!
    Back to the full-time grind.

This is exactly what happened to me. What forced me to go PC was $$$ wise since I'm more of a hobbyist then a business thing. But with the right technique and product/pad combo, it's still effective.

I'm hoping to upgrade to a Flex 3401 or Rupes...

Question OP, are you looking to start a business or is this a hobby thing? If it's more for hobby, go with the Griots. If it's for business, it's probably worth saving for a Flex or Rupes.

I am a hobbyist and have the 7424XP. I strictly bought it because of the price and Mike P uses it in a lot of videos. I have had the privilege to use Rupes and Flex from a friend of mine.....If money is not an issue ramp up to a more powerful one. I found them both very user friendly.

Thanks, guys! Much good advice here and much appreciated!
Money is tight in our house, so I'm watching eBay/Craigs for a used PC with a plan to sell it soon as I get the job done. Hope I'm not miscalculating...

If money is an issue why not just pick up a Harbor Freight DA for about $50--it's more powerful than the PC and is performing pretty well as long as you get a quality 5" backing plate to replace the poor quality 6" that comes with the unit.
