The reason why is,
A: Paint is always thinner on raised body lines due to gravity causing wet paint to flow downward.
B: Chances are good with a Porsche from 1986, that's 27 years old, that other people have buffed this car out and did NOT tape these raised body lines off and the last thing I want to do is be the guy to make a thin spot.
In fact, as we go through the class, we fill out my VIF form and I point out all the normal and obvious places to look for thin paint and burn-through areas like you see on this Porsche 911.
A car lift would be nice for cars like this too... low to the ground means if you can't raise the car up to you... you lower yourself down to the car. A detailer should always be looking straight across from the paint they are machine buffing.
But yeah... cool car and it looks like the leather seats need some TLC as will the covertible top.

Good to hear and congratulations.
I think I want to detail cars on your Island, looks like my kind of place...
I'm already working on cars for my January class and as soon as I confirm them I'll create a new thread.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Hemi for the win!!!Sorry...I couldn't resist, but like you say, for what you're using the car for it's probably not a good fit. However, it sure is a sweet ride.

One thing for sure... if I bring in the 426 Hemi Dodge Coronet, it will probably be one of the few opportunities my students get to buff out a real survivor Hemi Muscle Car. Most owners of cars like these won't let anyone touch them, let a long let someone use them in a class for training purposes.
It would be a LOT more fun than a rental car or any modern transportation car. Worthy of getting your picture next to after she's all gleaming...
Hmm...
Might have to give it some more thought...
