    2004 C4S Paint Issue

    Mike,

I have an issue with a Black 2004 911C4S. There seems to be some kind of fallout on the car that resembles tree sap, although you can’t feel it. The cars main body is covered with what looks to be pinholes or what you might see with Solvent pop. The car has never been painted, although the front looks a little slicker to the eye than the rest of the car; which leads me to believe the car has been buffed before. I have attempted a little light buffing with the PC 7424Xp and HD Uno, which cleaned the paint and gave it a nice shine, but did not remove the problem.

I am not a fan of wet-sanding and I am wondering if I could use something like 3M’s rubbing compound or Maguire’s 105 on a foam cutting pad to remove these pin holes. I would prefer to use the DA but I have a rotorary if you think that is the way to go. I just want to be careful not to get overly aggressive with the paint, and do more damage.

    Thanks

    Re: 2004 C4S Paint Issue

I have the same issue with my '04 Mazda 6. Tiny pin-holes all over the entire car. The Carfax said there was only one minor incident with the front bumper, but I wonder if the entire car wasn't repainted at one point, having been owned by 4 people prior to me. Anyway, I had no luck in removing them with M105 and an orange pad with my PC7424XP. The swirls were removed but not the pin-holes.
