Ever notice that after washing pads for the first time they're not the same...

Specifically cutting pads...I find that after i wash them...they always seem much "Softer" than when they arrived at my door...I have to assume they won't cut as well...but i'm not sure why this happens...

anyone else notice this with foam pads?

The Pad Man noted this as a selling point for the 1-pad system, that foam pads get "worn out" from use/brush cleaning and don't cut as well as they go on with their lives.

The amount of cut they lose is negligible for the first handful of times you use them. i did a test a long time ago with cyan pads, which are notorious for falling apart quickly. Even comparing a brand new one, to one that had been used there was not a huge difference in cut. At least not enough that would make me want to use a new pad for every detail.

That said, other than the MF pads, I don't hang on to pads for all that long. After a handful of uses they go in the trash (cutting, not polishing pads).

The foam is getting "broken in". Kinds of like new shoes after you wear them.

I have begun to find that the brush for cleaning does cause quite a bit of additional wear on the pads. But it also effectively removes so much crud from the pad inbetween sections. :/
