What if, will it eat finish?

I have some extrior trim sealant by Wolfgang. I haven't tried it yet because I'm a little concerned about what may happen if I accidentally got some of the product on the painted surface. I see nothing that says it will harm the paint.

In the past I accentally got some Meguiars NXT Cockpit Shine on my unpaint top. I did wipe the product off with QD but it still made the finish in that area peel off. I threw the remaining cockpot shine in the trash and have been using water based products since. I can't stand to see faded unpainted plastic so I thought I would try ETS by WF.

Well, WG ETS appears to be almost identical to UTTG which I believe it was based off of.

UTTG is perfectly safe on paint and so is WG ETS.

In fact I have been using it on wheels and chrome for years.

I've had no issues with WG ETS getting on paint.

If I get any on the paint, then I just wipe it off with a MF.

Wolfgang ETS doesn't contain any dyes like some dressings do. It contains polymers that form a layer of protection over the surface. Knowing that polymer sealants are used on paint, I don't see ETS damaging painted surfaces. Just wipe it off if you happen to get some on the paint.

I'm really not following this. I haven't used NXT Cockpit Shine but I'm presuming it's simply a white PDMS dressing. Then you say you got it on your unpainted top, and the finish peeled off. What finish peeled off if it's unpainted? Are you talking about a convertible top?

The unpainted top is an acrylic material with clear coat finish. The clear coat peeled off the area where I accidentally got some of the Meguiar's Cockpit Shine on the surface.

Have you used WF ETS much? Were you able to wipe if off the paint surface easily? When washing the car are you able to see where the product washed off the unpainted plastic and ran down the side of the car?

I've only used it on my truck. Have it on all the plastic trim and lights.

It comes off the paint fairly easily. Much like removing a paint sealant.

No issues with it running from the rain or from washing.

Does the clear coat seem to be okay where the product was on the paint finish?

Obviously try not to get it on your paint, but if by accident you do; It will wipe right off without incident.
