Hello All,
This is my first post, but I've been reading quite a bit lately. I have a 1999 Coral (fish and ski) that is heavily oxidized on the top cap. I removed all of the hardware to make the buffing/wet sanding a little easier and that has also given me a good look at what the original color should be. Question is this....should I be able to get back to the original color (the color beneath some of the hardware) or does the metal flake actually fade over time? I think it's just oxidation, but I've wet sanded a portion (using 1000 grit) and I'm still not able to match the original color. I also tried buffing with Meg 49 (part of the boat restore kit) and a yellow LC pad. Either I wasn't doing that right or it just wasn't cutting it. Is there another compound that might cut through the oxidation a little better?

Thank you for any advice you may have.
