Paint absorbing pollish

The car is a black 1996 linclon mk 8 low miles and kept under car cover.
wasnt cared for very well. a friend just got it and i am polishing it for him.
i am using 105 and 205 and ultrafina. on rotory pfw oarnge and white lake country pads. I always find that when i 1st start to polish the paint just eats up pollish.
after i was done i wasnt satisied with the hood
so i wet sanded and re polished
the wet sanded area realy absorbed a lot of polish..

Sounds like the car either has been repainted with a single stage paint or the clear is missing and the basecoat is absorbing the polish.

Is the paint that's absorbing the polish matte looking or does it have a hard, glossy, high shine?

When you were polishing did the pad turn the color of the car, this will tell you if you have one or two stage paint.

I also tried 203 power finnish and when done on a section it was very hard to remove.
it did shine up real nice when ultrafina was used but i must have used too long on 1 section because it was hard to remove also.

This is a real weird problem but at some point the paint would have to reach a point were it's completely saturated.

Clear coats don't normally absorb very well, at least not like an old school single stage.

How long are you working the product and at what speed. Never read or seen a clear coat absorb polish.

I dont think the paint is really absorbing the polish. I would go with the technique being used with the 105. I just had a 92 Accord that hasn't been polished in 3 years and 105 was gumming up at first so I changed my technique and went back over the paint with an IPA wipedown to really make sure the paint was clean. After doing that 105 worked just fine.

How big of an area are you working? Try not to work too large of an area, for example nothing wider than your shoulders.

Also Ultrafina goes on wet and slings oil everywere and you need to remove it while it is still wet or it is a bear to get off.
