last time i detailed my tesla, after being done i noticed weird notches on my front headlights. could applying a clay towel or iron remover cause this? any other ideas?
Claying or a clay towel can cause marring. Try a polish with a polishing pad. That should clear it up.
That's what I did but could only do so much. It sounds like claying a headlight is a bad idea, the strange thing though, is I did the back lights and they seemed ok. You sure this is would be sure to claying??
If your talking about those little dots on your headlight i didn’t have anything like that after claying headlights. Clay marring when I saw on paint looked like scratches as you are rubbing debris caught in clay across surface.
To me looks more like nics from driving. Maybe headlight was dirty so didn’t notice till you cleaned?
Looks like typical road-rash. PPF will help hide it. PPF from day one will prevent it best and can be easily replaced one it has it bad enough.

Got it! Thanks Mike and everyone that helped. It is nice to know that i didn't screw up, and that those bumps aren't caused by me, though i think what i'll do is try a VERY small part of my BRAND NEW car headlight when i clay it. and i'll go crazy with lubricant and clean the claying towel often to be sure.
