CQuartz Lite - Repeat coat after 6 months - to polish or not ?
Hello,
I have a metallic dark grey Volkswagen Polo Sedan and I have maintained it pretty well since the beginning. I applied CarPro CQuartz lite 6 months ago and did weekly maintenance washes since then, as it gets really dusty at my locality (India). The coating is holding up really really well. But since it's been 6 months, I feel like applying another coat on the car. Not many new swirls developed on the car since I applied the coating, that warrant for a paint correction, maybe except for the bonnet.
So, I wanted to ask, that to re-apply the coating, can I go ahead and apply it on the car after a good wash and a alcohol wipe down ? Or is it absolutely necessary to remove the previous coating by polishing the car ?
Thank You in advance

If it is still performing well I would just continue to wash and maintain. It does last longer than 6 months.
If you really want to reapply it then a decon wash at the minimum followed by a prep wipe.

Yeah i topped my car with cancoat. Washed with Mckee’s coating prep soap. Iron X the car and tar X the rockers. Then washed with reset. Used Eraser and then topped

I forgot to mention that Lite has a 1 year life span once the bottle is open. You may wan to check if it is still ok. Mine started to no be useable around the 7-8 month time frame and it was starting to harden up at the 1 year mark. It was the consistency of gelatin.
So go ahead and add another layer so you don't have to waste it. Use it on your wheels as well. Even your glass that does not see wiper abrasion.

^^ I just applied Cancoat everywhere I could think of a few hours ago... rockers, trim, wheels, windows. Just trying to use that last ounce up (bottle about yo be 1 year opened) but the bottle seems bottomless.
Use your CQ on anything you can think of.

I have a new bottle of CQ Light.
Can someone give me an estimated number of cars or coats it will cover?
Thanks.

I have no experience with it but recalled reading other members’ accounts. Below is a thread where a user states “3 cars (2 coats)” which is the range I was thinking. I remember because Cancoat gets probably 5 cars (2 coats) if I had to guess, but CQ Lite lasts longer... I was comparing the two in my head.

Had a friend of mine who was getting 8 cars out of a bottle. I can't recall if it was one or two layers.

Thanks for the advice and heads-up regarding shelf life Guz. I just checked the bottle and it seems to be normal for now. I did store it inside a closed cupboard, away from light and heat. And yeah, the current coating is almost as good as new, but I'll anyway top it up within a week or so, just to use the product.

Thanks. Since cancoat and CQ Lite are very similar, I guess I'll have no issues re-applying it without any polishing or compounding. Will apply the coat soon.

Sure, I too applied two coats of CQ Lite on the paint and one coat on rest of areas. This time, I guess I'll apply two coats of it everywhere. I was actually surprised looking at how little it took to double-coat the car. I wish the shelf life of the product could somehow be increased. I'll apply this on my dad's Jetta too. Even then I'll probably be left with half bottle, haha.
Thank you all for your inputs guys. Been really fast and helpful .
