Dashboard cracks why?
Hi as you probably have seen my Nissan Fuga 2004 done 25,000 kms (16,000 miles) has been stored in the garage for just over 3.5 years. Basically from the time I purchased it pretty much went straight in the garage and garage and car doors not opened for 3.5 years.
It had a couple of bits repainted which they nicely washed for me and it got driven home and put straight in the garage and stored for 3.5 years.
While it was in the paint shop I got a crack fixed on the dashboard which wasn't picked up over there and noticed on arrival.
Could this cause more cracks on the dashboard?
Thanks in advance

Re: Dashboard cracks why?
if the dashboard is brittle and already has cracks it may get worse over time. I would use a good interior protectant on the dashboard and maintain it. Don't use a lot of pressure near the cracks. BLACKFIRE Interior Protectant
Some people order DashMats to cover up the cracks in the dashboard. Dashboard cover, Dashboard covers, Dash cover, Dash covers, Dashmat, dash mat, dash mats, Suedemat, Suedemats, Suede mat, Suede mats, Velourmat,

Was it wrecked or hit?

I'm not sure that a SINGLE crack would cause MORE cracks.
My guess is whatever caused the FIRST CRACK - this ROOT CAUSE - is the reason for MORE cracks.
I would contact Nissan and see if this is a known issue. By the way, this car has a very complicated looking dash.

Re: Dashboard cracks why?
Thanks Mike
No just had scratches and i had another car, had 2 cars almost my whole life. Bit of a long story why it sat in garage for so long.
I wondered that re root cause. Most of the big (currently 3) ones seem to stem start from the speaker.
It is a known fact with certain brands Lexus, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota over here.
Yes a complicated dash alright, computer wise as well.
I have heard depends on how the car was stored/treated over in Japan out in the sun etc.

Your looking at the dash from the wrong side.

Re: Dashboard cracks why?
•IMO:
-The appearance of one dash crack doesn’t
necessarily mean that more are on the way.
-And, though dash materials have evolved
to be significantly better over the years, the
actual quality of those materials do vary from
manufacturer to manufacturer—some are
less prone to being negatively affected by heat,
UV-rays, etc. than are others.
•In order to further facilitate the dash’s
overall integrity:
-I’ll suggest to immediately start applying
Meguiar’s M40 on a regular maintenance
schedule.

Re: Dashboard cracks why?
Could just be cheap materials used in the construction of the dash. Some vehicles seem more crack prone than others.

Re: Dashboard cracks why?
Thanks Bobby will look into this.
It seems to getting tacky now since been out of the garage.
Don't understand it has been not in direct sunlight since been in the garage.
Garaged every night, only drive in the weekends.

Yes looks that way, but doesn't happen to all of them.
