    Too many forum sections?

Mike, I'm just wondering if there aren't too many subforums on this site and if posts tend to get overlooked because of that. Opinions?

I never go into any of the sub forums, I just click "New posts" on the left next to my account info and it shows me everything that is new since my last visit. Easy to see all that was posted, regardless of location.

This is what I do too. After my first read-through of the day, I then use the "Get Daily" link.

The multiple forums are good for organizing the topics if you are after a specific bit of information.

    I agree with the above.

Also the search feature can be helpful for looking for an older post.

I do think there are too many sub-forums or just forum groups on this forum. I've actually already consolidated a few - just a few years ago.

In this last year, there's actually been at least 2 requests to ADD more forum groups, both requests were for regional forum groups.

There's a thing called forum creep, kind of like buffer creep, that is it's all to easy to add more and more groups and pretty soon it's total chaos, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria,

    Re: Too many forum sections?

I’m guilty of requesting a regional sub-forum, as this is an extremely welcoming forum and thought it’d be a great way for people to set up car, detail or swap meets.

In saying that, I will also admit there may be too many sub-forums as it is, but not sure how much more it could be narrowed down.

I generally stay on the home page of AGO to read threads/posts. If there’s one I was looking for specifically and it’s not there, then I’ll use the search function.

    Exactly what I do, Nate.

    "Get Daily" is your friend.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
