Can you use a sealant with an all in one

I just recently purchased a new black Silverado and have really gotten into self detailing as a hobby. I was trying to do some research on what protection would be best and wanted your guys thoughts. I like the duration and longevity of a sealant like Wolfgang Deep Gloss but also like the ease of and all in one like Pinnacles Souveran Jeweling Wax. The paint is in good condition as I have only had it about 2 months now but I know some polishing will make it even better. Is it possible to use the Jeweling Wax all in one with the sealant. I did not think it would work since the Jeweling would need to be put on first as it is an all in one and the sealant would not adhere well if put on over top. Thanks for any tips or advice

A quality non cleaning wax will work over an AIO base. Personally, I'd opt for an easier to use spray wax from Pinnacle or Blackfire.

If it was me I’d be wait until after the 1st wash to apply the sealant over the AIO. I’ve seen less than NormL results in regards to longevity when I apply a sealant directly over AIO’s.

Basically what you’re thinking will happen sort of does..

If I use an AIO and want to top it, I personally like to stay synergistic. Meaning I use the same brand wax or sealant as the AIO.

For you, I would suggest Blackfire One step as your AIO. It can be topped with any of their waxes or sealants with great results and longer durability than the AIO alone.

So if I wanted to go the route of the sealant then am I correct in thinking that I should just use a polish and then a sealant instead of an AIO. Basically one or the other? I have also seen some threads on ceramics but am kind of intimidated by them since I am just starting out. I don't want to mess the truck up from the get go.

Yes, I think your thinking is correct. If you're planning on applying a sealant afterwards, there's really no reason to use an AIO. The main benefit of the AIO is that it accomplishes two things in one step, polishes and seals. Since you're planning on following up with a sealant anyway I would just use a polish and then apply the sealant. I think you will get better longevity out of your sealant if you apply it after a polish vs an AIO.

Yes...you can top your AIO. It does help. I do it all the time for customers. They love it and usually don't hear from them till next year or more.

Just the other day---Used the Pinnacle Jeweling wax to "clean up/lightly correct" the clear coat. When I was done earlier than my estimated time frame. I went ahead and threw on
McKee's High Def sealant just to extend protection up to 6 months and sometimes more. They love it when you do something extra for them.

Now, High Def Sealant is good stuff from McKee's. Love the stuff. Trust the stuff. Use it on the wife's Subaru every spring in the past 4 years and the paint is perfect from the factory!

Spring: Wash/clay the Subaru. Then machine apply High Def Sealant-Done. (Never done any correction)
Fall: Final wash. Hit with high quality spray wax. Done.

    Spring:repeat as outlined above.

Paint is perfect, no swirls and has that thick rich slick feel to it as if it was just polished.

And I am lazy. Will not do more than it need be on my cars!

But for paying customers--I go the extra mile. Decontaminate, cut and seal. Always. Sometimes AIO/Seal, sometimes Polish/Seal, whichever the paint responds best.

    •Disclaimer:
-Although the below technique may not
actually be set in stone...here goes:

•Currently, when it comes to topping/layering
LSPs, the “best practice” is applying a (Finishing)
    Wax over a Sealant.

    **************************************

    •Therefore, IMO:
-Applying a Sealant over an AIO—one that is
said to leave behind a Wax as the AIO’s protection
aspect—would be the polar opposite to the above
    “best practice”.

-Better to top a Wax-AIO with a Finishing Wax.

(Or if going with a Sealant-AIO: I top it with
either a Finishing Sealant; or a Finishing Wax.)

Re: Can you use a sealant with an all in one

Yeah Bob, that makes sense. After some more researching I think I am going to do as you and Jim suggested and start with the Blackfire AIO and top off with either the BF Blackice Hybrid Liquid Wax, BF Si02 Spray Sealant, or WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant since it is getting later in the year and then maybe do a ceramic coating in the spring after I have practiced some correction and finishes on a few older vehicles. Thanks for all the advice and welcome any more anyone else may have.
