Re: The Evolution of the AIO

Is it just circumstance that the DuPont Polish is No.7 just like Meguiars had their popular No.7?

This thread got me thinking of another thread of yours. You called it almost 2 years ago, there will be more AIO polishes made for coating specific applications!!

    Prediction - More one-step Cleaner/Coatings or Primers

I'm not sure which came first? The Meguiar's #7 or the DuPont #7 but I believe it was Meguiar's.

As far as the products themselves go - they are NOTHING alike.

Happy to say the few predictions I have made - have come true.

I've been seeing a bit of push from Rupes AIO.

They have their place, that's for sure. Still loving the Blackfire One Step.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's my friend had a mobile detail franchise called Tidy Car. He gave me 2 products he was using. One was No 7 Dupont Auto Polish and the other was Astro Shield. Everyone used to ask me how my cars always looked like they had a coat of glass on them. Yeah I know I'm old.

Got any predictions for the next big stock to invest in? Maybe some lottery numbers? If so let me know, just cleared my inbox so I’ve got room for PM’s!

As far as cleaner/waxes go, you cold do worse... it has a pretty strong solvent odor to it also.

    I think it's still around.

Astro Shield was great stuff. I used it for years. I would think it was one of the first polymer sealants because it had both polydimethylsiloxane and polyethylene polymers in it. I stopped using it when Meguiars came out with their Lifetime Polymer Sealant somewhere around 1981 or 1982. I've used mostly a whole bunch of Meguiars since.

He was in Lake Hopatcong. Sold it around 88. I think the company is still around. Not sure if it's the same though. I used to use it on my Red 1985 Honda CRX Si. Didn't last very long but made the paint really pop. When I traded it in the salesman and a few of his co workers were looking at it and said It looked better than the new cars in the show room. I have no idea what was in it though.
