Is Anyone Using an Air Spray Gun to Apply Ceramic Coatings?

I'm mainly interested in using it to apply on wheels, grilles, and other hard to reach surfaces where an application pad just won't work. If you are using an air spray gun or air brush, could you please provide the name and model you have? Also, how you like using it.

    Thanks so much!

Yes there are a few people who have used an air brush to apply DLUX to grills, etc.. One such person is no longer on the forum (mediscott), but I know he did. I have never tried it.

Thanks! There are so many different kinds of air spray/air brush guns out there I'm just trying not to reinvent the wheel.

I do with DLux and tire coatings.

Harbor freight makes a small HVLP gun that works perfect and is cheap.

Not gonna use a high quality gun as the coatings may clog/ruin the gun.

Thank you! Do you use lacquer thinner to clean it out after use?

Yes but the more refined and odorless version. AKA mineral spirits.

Have you considered using one of the spray-on coatings ? PBL Surface Coating is just one of several examples.

I'm interested in coating my plastic grille primarily, which is impossible to do with the standard applicator. I'd use Gyeon Trim or Gtechniq Permanent Trim Restorer. I haven't seen any spray on type coatings for plastics.

XJL. If you are looking for a super easy product, check this out.

Meguiars Plastic & Vinyl Coating, exterior trim coating, trim dressing, vinyl protectant

Already in an aerosol form. Looks great, super easy to use, It’s hydrophobic, any overspray cleans right off glass or paint. Only draw back is that it won’t last as long as a true coating like DLUX.

Just wanted to give you another option.
