Re: Anyone like and use 3D One Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish?

We use it a lot in my shop. Its my go to product for vehicles that need a two step but the customers budget does not cover a two step job. Long buff cycle, low dusting, can control the amount of cut or how well it finishes down based on the pad. I pair it up with the beast and get excellent results.

Re: Anyone like and use 3D One Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish?

Had my second vehicle to work on using 3D One. This time, not so good of an experience.

To begin, tools used, Makita PO5000, Grey Lake Country Hybrid Force Pads and 3D One.

My not so good experience was that the product was slinging all over the panel I was working on. Running the polisher on speed 5 to correct some seriously neglected black paint and I'm having to rewipe the adjacent sections I had just worked on. Finished down with a white pad using the lazy man technique and no sling from the white pads.

My prior experience was using orange and white pads and no issues slinging product. Same speed as well. Wonder if it's the pad itself. I even used a brand new grey pad to rule out the pad.

    Anyone else have this issue?

You must have noticed how HARD the GREY Lake Country Hybrid Force foam pads are?

This hardness means they don't flex or conform to the surface until they become wet with product, as in fairly wet.

As such, "yes" they will tend to let product escape from out from under them because the pad simply doesn't have great surface adhesion.

I rarely and I would even say NEVER use the grey foam formula in any of the pad lines as it's just too stiff.

Next time, maybe try the 3D One with a more flexible foam cutting pad and see if the product-slinging goes away.

Thanks for the response Mike. Yes, it worked fine with the orange pads but didn't provide the cut that I needed.

I'll know not to use the grey pads ever with One.
