Boat Detailing Correction and Ceramic Coating Class at MTE 2020

Boat Detailing Correction and Ceramic Coating Class at MTE 2020

The FIRST class on Thursday morning is my boat detailing class where I'm going to show LIVE on the side of a REAL boat - how to undo years of oxidation and then install a gel-coat ceramic coating.

Here's the side of a deserted Bayliner boat that will be cut-off and brought to this class.

    Class Info

    Thursday, January 30th, 2010

    8:00am to 8:50am

1: Boat Detailing – Wetsanding, Correction, Chemical Stripping & Installing a Ceramic Coating

In this class you will learn the fastest techniques for removing DEEP oxidation via machine wetsanding followed by how to remove 100% of your sanding marks and restore a swirl-free, show car finish to a boat gel-coats.

Then you’ll learn the correct techniques to chemically strip the gel-coat and install a ceramic coating.

Most important – you will learn how to remove most of the GRUNT work out of the process, which also means dramatically reducing time and sore muscles. This means less work, less time and more profit.

PLUS – removing deep oxidation means better results that last longer.

Sealing with a ceramic coating means the oxidation stays away longer and the results last longer, this means happy customers and increased word-of-mouth advertising.

    Learn to do this,

The process I'll share is the same process I show in all my boat classes since 2013

The MOST Photo-Documented Boat Detailing Classes on Planet Earth!

That's where we take boats that look like this,

Test Spot on a Gel-Coat Boat

And make them look BETTER than when they left the factory....

And in my classes, there's no sitting in chairs looking at a wall while you listen to me talk. NO - you learn by doing.

    No chairs

Just boats and on-your-feet, hands-on training

For everyone that will find and read this thread into the future,

Before signing up and paying for ANY boat detailing class. Ask to see documentation that SHOWS you what you get to do for your hard-earned money.

If you want to train on boats - then take my class.

If you like to sit in a chair, then find another class.

I am the only person that can document and prove hands-on training since 2013 - Click the link below and in that thread, click ANY of the links for each boat shown and see for yourself.

The MOST Photo-Documented Boat Detailing Classes on Planet Earth!

And of course, moving forward, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

    Mike,
I hope you take the boat by the power washer before you bring it into the conference. Might create a mass exodus of the building trying to breath with the looks of that hull......LOL

I have a conflict on your first class but can come earlier....

That is one prime example of how to make one MAJOR improvement.

Thanks for sharing the good time to be experienced at your first session Thursday morning.

I'll do my best to clean it up without taking away from the aged patina.

    Sorry to hear.

This is the FIRST time a class on correcting boats and installing ceramic coatings will be taught AND taught with a live demonstration. In the past, my good friend and alumni student of my 2-day boat class here in Stuart, has held class on "Mold Remediation", which is important, but like cars and car paint, when it comes to the appearance of a boat, most people are more interested in taking a boat that looks unrecoverable and restoring it to amazing.

Your work is cut out (pun intended) for you with that Bayliner. They weren't known for having the thickest gel coat even in their best years.

Copy that - it will work for demo purposes though. And of course - I teach and practice,

Use the least aggressive process to get the job done

Mike will you be using a ceramic coating specifically formulated for gel coat and/or fiberglass, or a brand for the auto market? I'm going to be detailing my Sea-Doo and wondering if an automotive product will work as well on fiberglass as it dopes for the auto market..

I'll be showing the Marine 31 Captain's Coating. It's specifically formulated for gel-coat.

I would say don't do it. It might work but I've spoken with a few coating chemists about this topic and there's a huge difference between porous gel-coat and non-porous clearcoats and this affects bonding and longevity.

Thanks much for the reply. I don't know how I missed that product when I review Marine 31 options. I'm glad I asked.
