Removing Deteriorated Duct Tape from Gelcoat

What is the best way to remove large quantities of deteriorated duct tape residue from gel coat? I tried scrubbing with my daughter’s nail polish remover and then with Power Clean with little to no effect on it.

I would try 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. Once you remove the old adhesive I would polish the gel coat and apply a wax or sealant for protection.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, bug and tar remover, adhesive remover, decal remover, tree sap remover

Marine 31 All-In-One Gel Coat Polish and Wax, all in one boat polish wax, boat cleaner wax

I use 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 3M™ General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner | 3M United States on many applications and never had a problem.

I found some 3M adhesive cleaner. It worked well and did not cause any gel coat damage. Thank you all!

    Great to hear.

I worked in the marine industry for over 30 years. That is where I started using the 3M GPAC.

Nothing can compare to it IMO. And that also applies to car paint.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
