    help with window molding

    help with window molding

Notice this the other day. Car is a Porsche 2016 spyder stored in air conditioned garage in FL. with no mold issues.

Really never paid attention until I detailed the car for a Porsche concours. Molding is discolored and have only used gummi fledge on it. Rubber is supple and not cracked.

Any advice on making it appear better or am I better off putting in a warrantee claim???

Got killed in the Porsche concours because of it. I was at the Autogeek showroom a few weeks ago but forgot to ask what to do. Truly a big fan of your work so I figured I would reach out

Appreciate any help and thank you

    Hi Dave,

Sorry for the late reply, don't want you to think I was ignoring you. You posted this on Thursday before I left to teach a class in Denver and although it can sound like a lame excuse, I'm busy. And before flying out to teach a class, with all my other job duties, I super busy.

So I can no longer get to all the e-mails, Private Messages, Facebook messages and sadly, posts to this forum. But I do try my best.

    Now to your trim dilemma...

When I look at the pictures, what I see looks to be SCUFFING of the rubber gasket.

    Is this correct?

You talk about "mold" in your post but I'm not seeing?

If it's mold, then there are a number of products on the market that can kill and remove mold. Let me know and I'll share.

If it's scuffing of the rubber gasket, first thing to do is stop the scuffing as fixing will only last until the next scuffing.

Rubber is a tick on the difficult to repair via abrading. I have "improved" the appearance of rubber trim by rubbing it with a piece of terry cloth and a trim sealant OVER TIME. That is rubbing the affected rubber trim once won't do much, but doing it after every wash for about a year can slowly and gently improve the appearance.

    Not sure if that helps....

I wonder if he could use Black Wow Pro to correct this, it says the product can be used on rubber.

He stated in his post that was all he used. And I am a big fan of the Pflege!

I am seeing "scuffing" as well.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Do you remember what cleaner you used to clean around the doors? If I see right it's the door jambs seals that's scuffed. So something around the doors seems to be transfering something on the door jambs seals.
