    Blackfire SiO2 spray streaking

I coated my car about a month ago with Blackfire ceramic after the car was clayed and polished. I washed and dried the car and then applied the SiO2 spray inside the garage. The car is black and after going out into the sun you can see streaks. What would cause that? Was there something wrong with the way I applied it? What is the proper application technique? How do I get the streaks out?

You need light that gives an actual representation of the car color in the garage. That will allow you to see streaks before you take the car out

And in general, try to wipe it off sooner, maybe apply to smaller areas at a time. Also, test buffing with a few different nap towels. I found that a very low nap, general purpose towel to work the best. YMMV. I had some streaking only on coats after the initial one but the towel and smaller areas, quicker buffing time fixed the issue.

This is a really nice product and I've never seen it streak on clean paint in good condition.

    Technique Tip

After misting onto a panel and the spreading it out, remove using a clean, dry microfiber towel using an overlapping circular motion.

My guess is you likely applied too much product. Try it again using one mist per panel, work it in using light pressure with towel #1 and then buff with a second towel. The streaks should come out by reapplying.

I enjoy working with the Blackfire SiO2 Spray Sealant. A little goes a long way.

Streaking is caused by too much product being applied. If you're working inside of your garage make sure you have excellent lighting. You only need a light mist of the SiO2 Spray Sealant per panel. Use one towel to spread it out and use a 2nd clean towel for your final wipe and work in small sections at a time.

Based on these replies, I have no doubt my temporary streaking issues with SiO2 Spray were due to over applying. The big bottle makes me do it.

Great product with a small learning curve. Agree. Less is more here. Next time I am going to try Griots MF mitt to apply it. Just to see if their is any big difference.

Played around with this method this morning after my wash. I LIKE IT! Just 1-2 spritzes per panel. Spread it out with the Griots mitt, then flip it for a final buff. I have noticed with this product, and agree, LESS IS MORE. Don't use it like a detailer or spray wax.

    Re: Blackfire SiO2 spray streaking

Just used this again today. The vehicle had not been washed for about two months and I was surprised by how easy it cleaned up. I just have a little sample of the stuff but it's gone a long way. If I bought the 32oz bottle I would transfer it to something smaller with a fine mist. You don't need to use a lot.
