    Which clay mitt?

Already planning for spring, I've decided to go for a ceramic coating on my Camaro. Probably Gyeon CanCoat because I'm cheap and broke. But I want to do a complete and total prep before applying the coating: Wash (Meg's Hyperwash), Physical decon (To be determined), Polish (Poorboy's SSR1), Coating Prep (Gyeon Prep) and finally the CanCoat.

I have no problem getting a new claybar or two, but I am wondering if a quality mitt would work better.

Go with a Mitt and thank me later. Use a small 1 gal pale of very soapy water as your lube. My process is to wash, Iron X, De-tar it aka TRIX or like, then once rinsed, I go around with the mitt and soapy water Here's the Mitt I use . I also have 4 or so Nano Sponges for smaller areas. I used to use them exclusively but they are smaller and I wanted to cover ground quicker is why I moved up.

Don, I'm sure the mitt TTQ recommended is nice, but if you're on a budget, this is what I use.

Those are a little pricey compared to clay bars. How many times can you decontaminate your car with one of those?
Does the efficiency decrease after each use?

Are you referring to the Nanoskin clay mitts? They can last through a ton of vehicles. I think the most important thing is to ensure you put it away once you’re done and not allow it to get abused and collect dust or sit out in the sun etc.. As long as you put it away they last a very long time and no their effectiveness doesn’t gradually diminish, IME it simply hits the wall once it’s done. I’ve only had that happen to 1 mitt and there’s no mistaking when it happens.

    Re: Which clay mitt?

I have the Nanoskin Blue Wash mitt and have never used traditional clay again. As for CanCoat, it is a really great product. I used it for a few of the details last year. I am on my 2nd bottle too. Very forgiving product if you mess up too.

    Happy New Year!

While I personally generally prefer clay this is a really nice product. Have been enjoying using it since it came out....
