Can this burgundy/red vinyl top be adequately recolored?

I've found a potential daily driver (My poor ETC has been turned classic insurance only from a minor collision; the White Diamond paint costs far more than the body work, leading to salvage title.)

However, it looks like the vinyl top has faded, even though the Crimson Pearl paint doesn't appear to have done so (I haven't been out yet).

I'm not looking for show grade, but I do want something nice.

It appears to my inexperienced eye to have inconsistent fading on the vinyl, and a couple of possible tears (top edge, lower right) and darker spots (or water damage?) under the window.

Can this be niced up at a modest cost? (and even if it's not this car, similar paint/vinyl mismatches are far from rare around here).

    thanks

I think this would work... Unfortunately it’s not in that color, but if you research more of these I know they have more than the 3 flavors that are currently offered here on AG.

Do you have any current pics of the Eldorado? I would like to see it.

The following product should be able
to take care of the fading...but it sure
won’t fix any of those possible tears.

I was going to suggest vinyl dye, but Bob beat me to it. It was common in the 70s and 80s.

Oh, well; by the time I got the hothouse coverings on (6 mil sheeting on a 16x16 wood frame) so that my tomatoes would survive the night, it was gone.

But now I'll know for the next time . . . which will hopefully be soon . . .

As for the eldorado . . . the links to mywebsite are broken (grr), but here are some . . .

There wasn't a brougham option in 1997, as I understand. This car was customized before delivery with the quarter top, the chrome on the upper side body, the retro chrome grille, the chrome around the wheel wells (not installed at the moment), and the pedestrian sight.

It's the passenger door and front fender that were damaged; this is from before:

Against all odds, I found a '95 base model with almost as good of paint and a blown engine for $500. It's a shame that the donor won't go back on the road, though: the exterior is beautiful, but the interior is another story, as is the blown engine.

It was custom ordered by the sales manager at a dealer, and went in *monthly* for dealer services. It is believed to have been garaged for all but a few months of its life.

Except for a couple of minor blemishes, the paint is amazing--this is a from the roof of a car that's lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years:

It was *supposed* to have been my daily driver for the next fifteen or twenty years, but it's getting algae title inflicted upon it, so I can't get regular insurance

It's actually my "other eldorado"--it has a big brother in the garage . . .

My Eldorado is supposedly only a few minutes of carburetor work from going back on the road, although its hood is hanging form the ceiling (the hinges failed, and I have to send them out of state to rebuild).

I like the grille in the first photo. It’s a lot like the one on my Coupe de Ville
