Is Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax a cleaner/wax? And more questions?

Is Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax a cleaner/wax? And more questions?

Anytime I get questions via e-mail, a PM or a FB message I prefer to invest my typing time where

A: It's easier for me to share links, pictures and videos.

B: More people can read and thus benefit from the information. (no just one set of eyeballs)

The reality is, most people that contact me found me via an article I've written or a reply I've written on this forum. The thing is, instead of figuring out that the whole reason they are contacting me is because they found me via an article or answer I wrote on the forum that they to should bring their question to the forum because not only will that help them.... but it will help a future "them". If I answer everything in a private e-mail or other touch point, no one would find and contact me. It's a cycle or pattern that repeats as long as everything is shared in the public domain.

The above is kind of wordy but re-read it slowly and it will make sense.

So I get an e-mail asking,

I've been reading your article on the different types of waxes and sealants on your forum from 2010.

I was wondering as I'm a bit confused and not been able to find it by doing a google search. Well, before I ask my question I will say what I've done and been doing for the past few years when I clean my car. I'm getting it ready for winter so I washed it twice, clay bar, used Meguiar's show car glaze, then I gave two coats of Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint sealant.

So my question is, I usually use Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax for two coats. I couldn't tell anywhere if it's a cleaner wax or not.

I was reading that I shouldn't use a cleaner wax after using a sealant.

Also, I'm considering getting a ceramic sealant when I run out of what I've got. I had a question on that. If I got a ceramic coating, would it be a good idea to put sealant and wax on top of that?

I'm thinking of trying a Wolfgangs product for the next sealant I get.

I'm sorry I sorta said this was a quick question, but I'm long winded in real life too.

Anyways, thank you for your time.

I enjoy your site. Keep up the good work.

    Great questions Derek,

I'm very short on time as Yancy and I fly out of PBI at O'Dark Thirty tomorrow morning and I have a few 60 second scripts to write plus this little to-do list before I can go home.,

Send out 3 e-mails to everyone attending the Roadshow Class at Dr. Beasley's - Important Info - Cars needed - names for Certificates
Send address to the My Classic Car TV studio to the two people bringing us cars for the TV show
Send products to Customsprty and the Ferrari guy
Test some new compounds, polishes on black paint
Test a spray detailer and a spray wax on paint
Pack all the totes for the Dr. Beasley's Class
Get info and paperwork to co-workers to get the pallet shipped out by tomorrow (when I'm gone)
Get props and cars for Flitz videos this Friday

And the above is just off the top of my head.

Because you've been following me since 2010 - please feel encouraged to join our forum, this is where I answer questions. Email is okay, but the forum is powerful.

Re: Is Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax a cleaner/wax? And more questions?

In order to find the most definitive answer
whenever a question of this manner arises,
I prefer taking the path of least resistance.

    •As such:
    -With Meguiar’s, themselves, applying their
very own —>”5-Step Paint Care Cycle”<—
analogy to this particular paint care product’s
description (please see below graph); then, by
all means: I am totally convinced that the cur-
    rent
    version/formulation of Meguiar’s Ultimate
Paste Wax is not a Cleaner-Wax.

(I keep in mind that The EPA, et al, has, at times,
stuck their collective nose(s) into the hinterlands
of the detailing community. Uninvitingly, I’ll add.)

I’m not sure I would top PBL with Ultimate Paste. Not sure if the sealant would bond well to the PBL Sealant. And if it compromises PBL at all, then your longer lasting sealant may not be lasting as long.
